The details about Mirabelle Island, the setting for 7 of my books,
didn't come to me all at once with FIRST COME TWINS. The island truly evolved with each book I wrote. The cursory drawing below is what I first mapped out on the white board in my office.
Pretty basic, but all I needed at the time.
As the Mirabelle books have evolved, so has the island itself.
More and more details were added to my white board and a lot was only in my head. I wanted readers to be able to see that vision, so I commissioned an artist to do an illustration of Mirabelle.
After sending him a rudimentary drawing and exchanging emails, this is his first attempt.
More emails and a couple of phone calls and we get this ...
Add color and a legend and it finally looks like what's in my head.
Voila!
